A criminal organization dubbed 'the worst criminal group' by both the Hero Association and Pandemonium.
The Chameleon Troupe functions similar to a mercenary group, giving a lot of freedom to their members. It works as the famous Jeronimo Mercenary Group in disguise. They were not one but many at the same time; many were one thanks to Jain's ability to change one's appearance.
The founder and former boss of the Chameleon Troupe is Yi Yeonjun. He was assassinated by the former seat of black, Bell. The members of the troupe see Bell's actions as betrayal and are looking to get revenge on him. It's tricky because Bell is practically invincible and can dematerialize into magic energy. His cheat-like ability makes him arguably the most powerful character in the novel and his infamy as the former Black Seat seemed to have drawn the Heroes' attention when they heard of 'his' return. Of course, Bell didn't return; Kim Hajin took his seat.
During Yi Yeojun's leadership, the Chameleon Troupe had only had 4 known members, that being Bell, Boss, Jain and Kaita.
Today, it is lead by Yi Byul, called 'Boss' by the members of the troupe. The reason for each member joining the troupe often comes down to wanting to do criminal acts, receiving the backing of other powerful criminals in exchange for helping them in return. With such leeway for members joining the troupe, their objectives are vague and often boils down to doing what they want to do at the moment. For example, Kim Hajin, Yi Byul, Cheok Jungyeong, Jain, Jin Yohan and Kaita (and also Bell) spent over a year in the Tower of Wish mostly because they had fun stealing money, acquiring beautiful artifacts, fighting people, killing people or other not-so legal acts together. Even so, the troupe does have some basic goals besides helping Boss take revenge on Bell. They aspire to take over the Djinn-governed Pandemonium due to their collective hatred of djinns.
The Chameleon Troupe could be called an association of criminals acting in mutual benefit, but most members regard themselves as comrades.
In the epilogue, Jin Seyeon joins the Chameleon Troupe in an attempt to reduce the corruption within the Hero Association.
